I can easily say that English 102 was a good experience for me to take this semester. Although this class was difficult for me, I enjoyed learning as much as I can to help me in future college courses. With that said, I have learned many new things. I learned how to cite very well because I think in every essay we did in this semester I had to cite something. I feel extremely comfortable citing my work now, but I'm sure there will always be more to learn on citing. I sure there will be some citing in future courses that I take so I'm glad I got more comfortable with it throughout the semester. What I have struggled with the most this semester is the structure in my essays. I always tend to go off topic then on again, and the whole essay seems to be so scattered and hard for readers to understand. In the last essay, I think I improved in that area and I hope I keep improving. I have to say the readings that were assigned in this class helped me tremendously. I have always had horrible comprehension ever since I can remember and I believe "Frankenstein" and the book I had to read for my final essay helped me focus on comprehending them because I was pretty much forced to. I am taking a course called Criitical Thinking next semester which has plenty of reading so I hope to keep improving on my comprehension in that class as well.
I believe I have met some, but not all of the learning outcomes for this class. I feel the most comfortable writing focus statements, interpreting and analyzing texts, and evaluating and analyzing professional and student writing. Other than those three, I definitely have to improve on them. I think I have met those three learning outcomes because I feel like we have used them the most throughout the semester. This class has had its up and downs but I believe that I overcame some obstacles by reading and learning from some of my classmates work. I'm happy that we got to share every assignment with eachother to get feedback whether good or bad. I thought that was a huge plus in this class because I have never had the opportunity to do that in any other class previous. All in all, English 102 has been a great experience and I'm glad I have had the opportunity to take it.
You had a lot of the same struggles that I had throughout the class. I also learned how to cite better in my papers. You learned the concepts pretty well it seems. Good luck in your critical thinking class!
ReplyDeleteHey I really like your reflection. We seem to have the similar things that we have improved in the course. Citing work was very difficult for me and I feel as though i have bettered myself at it as well. We do have similarities to, I do seem to go off topic in some essays as well and I have corrected myself at that as well. But good luck in your future class!
ReplyDeleteThe most important thing is that you tried your best! I too enjoyed learning more about citing. I haven't done it in so long that I had a hard time with that. We had some very useful tools that helped with that though. I also enjoyed being able to share assignments with other classmates and getting feed back from them. I thing that this helped us all. Good luck on the Final Portfolio!!
ReplyDeleteI have to agree with you that it was a good experience in this course. I know that this course has helped me in fine tuning my writing for my future college courses. I also liked being able to associate with the other members of this class, and getting feed back from them. Good Luck in your future classes!
ReplyDeleteIt has been a good time in class this semester. I also feel that my citing has improved by leaps and bounds. I have also felt the challenges of this class. It is good to be challenged, growth will always occur. The blog aspect of the class was really cool, and I too am glad to have shared with others. Thank you for your comments, I affirm peace and prosperity to you.
